Garage Door Repair in Newmarket
We cover Newmarket daily, from Glenway and Stonehaven through to Armitage. Same-day where we can, and no weekend or evening surcharge.
Why Newmarket homeowners choose Profix
Newmarket is the furthest north we go and, measurably, the coldest place we work. Around 87,000 people live here, in established homes around Main Street and the downtown alongside newer subdivisions in Stonehaven, Summerhill and Glenway Estates. The distinction that matters for a garage door is not the age of the house so much as the temperature it sits in, because Newmarket runs several degrees below the Toronto core through most of the winter.
Every Newmarket job starts with a free written quote, and the figure on it is what you pay. There is no weekend rate and no after-hours surcharge, which matters more here than most places because cold-weather failures rarely happen at convenient hours. Our vans carry torsion springs, cables, rollers, weather seal and opener parts for the major brands, and everything we fit is covered by a written warranty on parts and workmanship.
What a few degrees actually does to a garage door
Steel contracts as it cools. On a cold Newmarket morning a door that was correctly balanced in October can be measurably tighter in its track, and the springs hold slightly less lift than they did in milder weather. That is why so many springs let go in January rather than July. The metal was already working near its limit and the cold pushed it the rest of the way.
The other winter failure here is the door freezing to the slab. Meltwater runs under the bottom seal, refreezes overnight, and bonds the rubber to the concrete. When the opener is asked to lift it the following morning, the door does not move but the opener keeps pulling, which is how a frozen seal becomes a stripped gear or a bent bottom section. If your door will not lift on a cold morning, stop pressing the button and call us instead.
Garage door services in Newmarket
All of it available across Newmarket, downtown through to Woodland Hill. Emergency work runs around the clock, all winter.
The coldest corner of our service area
Newmarket sees some of the coldest winters in the GTA, with heavy snowfall, strong winds and ice accumulation that put extra stress on garage door components.
Newmarket's colder microclimate pushes temperatures several degrees below the Toronto core, so cold-contracted metal, frozen-stuck doors and hardened weather seals make up the bulk of our winter calls here.

Frequently Asked Questions - Newmarket
My door will not open and it is well below freezing. What should I do?
Stop pressing the opener button. If the door is frozen to the slab, the opener will keep pulling against a door that cannot move, and that is what strips gears and bends bottom sections. Pull the release cord, try lifting gently by hand, and if it will not come free without force, call us. A frozen seal is a quick job. A stripped opener is not.
Why do springs always seem to break in winter?
Because cold is the last straw rather than the cause. Steel contracts as temperatures drop, so a spring that was already near the end of its cycle life has slightly less margin on a cold morning. Newmarket sits several degrees below the Toronto core, which is why we see proportionally more January spring calls here than anywhere else we cover.
Does the bottom weather seal need replacing every year?
No, but it is worth checking every autumn. Rubber hardens with age and cold, and once it stops sitting flush to the slab you get meltwater underneath, which is what leads to the door freezing down. Replacing a hardened seal before winter is one of the cheapest preventive jobs on a garage door.
Newmarket is a long way from Thornhill. Do you actually cover it properly?
Yes, and at the same pricing as everywhere else. It is the longest run in our service area, which affects how we schedule rather than what you are charged. For non-urgent work we will usually offer you a window that lets us group Newmarket calls together, and we will be straight with you about timing.
Is an insulated door worth it up here?
If the garage is attached and shares a wall or ceiling with a heated room, yes, noticeably so in Newmarket. An insulated door rated R-16 or better also holds its shape better through deep cold than a thin uninsulated panel, which tends to flex and lose its seal. If the garage is detached and unheated, the case is much weaker and we will say so.
